Some questions seem to be from students looking for help with their classes.

What do you think of adding a category, like Community Wiki, for classroom help to separate questions from professionals vs people looking for help and real-world opinions on their homework?

That way people can know what kind of answers would be most helpful to the person asking.

Hi Mark,

Technically, we could tag students' questions with a specific tag ('student', or 'classroom-help').

I am ok with that as long as the "question-asker" has clearly identified himself/herself as a student (by which we mean here a non-professional who is learning about project management, right?). Though I am not sure we will always be able to know who is a "student" and who is a "professional". Some professionals still have many questions, sometimes simple questions.

What do you think?

I think that's a good solution. To Marcus' point it is for sure not to close out any group but to help guide the community in providing a relevant answer. – Mark Phillips Feb 9 at 18:56

In addition I would add that some so called students might have very valid questions on a professional level.

After all this is a reference centre for PM questions so I would tag along with creating a tag called "student of PM" or "PM base knowledge" or similar but I wouldn't want to close any group of people out by labeling their questions or the users themselves.

I don't see the difference. The questions from a professional might have a little bit more insight (experience, background, etc.) but we're all learning.

I'm a professional in the IT sector for over 9 years. I've been practicing project management for most of those years. Only in the last year did I discover it was such a developed career field of its own (PMP, Prince2, et al.).

I'm now a student again learning everything I can... does that mean I have to tag myself as a student? :)

I agree. Same for me. – Driss Feb 3 at 11:27
